Our qualified instructors will
show students the basics of kitesurfing. Our courses are run
at various Sydney beaches and at Smiths Lakes on our
Blown Away weekends. Below are the various stages of progress
which we use to teach this exciting new sport. Every year
we also run a course for people wishing to progress to becoming
an accrediated Intructor. Contact

Kite Control (Level One) ![](../images/kitesurfing/level1.jpg)
Students learn basic kite control at this
level. Utilizing a progressive range of kites they learn Safety
protocols for Launching, Landing, emergency landing, and self
rescue. correct kite setup, flight window and use of safety
systems is also covered. The emphasis is on safety and technical
information. Students should be able to demonstrate all the
above skills to a competent standard.
Powered Flight (Level Two)
Students
learn powered flying skills including body dragging, waterstarts
and pumping skills and basic line detanglement with a full
powered Kite. Students learn correct harness use. Students
make a transition into the water with body drags with and
without a harness. Students should be able to demonstrate
all the skills in level one and the ones mentioned above.
Get
on Board (Level Three)
Students learn board launching protocols and straight line
sailing skills, upwind sailing and jibe transition Skills
are covered. Either tow-board or wake boards may be used.
Right of way rules are discussed. Students should be able
to demonstrate all the skills in level one and two plus the
ones mentioned above.
Getting Air (Level Four)
Students
learn wave sailing theory and jumping techniques, light wind
and highland transitions are covered. Upwind ability and multiple
launching and landing skills are covered. Students should
meet all the requirements of the previous levels plus the
skills mentioned above.
Heavy
Air (Level Five)
High level wave sailing, and jumping techniques,
including looping and combination transitions. All launching
and landing skills are tested. Including Coast runs and an
emergency self rescue test. Students must meet all the requirements
of the previous levels plus the skills mentioned above.
Kitesurfing Instructor Standards
Participants must be over 20 and have, current Adult CPR and
First Aid certification. Instructors must have equivalent
or greater skill levels to the ones being taught.
